What is Lurex Fabric?
- Lurex is made from metallic fibres which are used to give shine to the fabric.
- It is netting with flexibility and elasticity.
- Lurex is made from thin metallic wires which are wrapped with other fibres like cotton, viscose, silk, polyester, etc.
- The fabric is lightweight and does not tarnish easily.
- It can be used for all clothing purposes depending on the main fibre used.
History
- The 20th-century technologies helped in making metallic fabrics much easier and more affordable to produce.
- Lurex came into existence in 1946.
- The yarn is usually made from aluminium stripes which are sandwiched between plastic films.
- The outfits made from lurex were first designed by Jacques Griffe wherein the fabric was woven into metelasse.

Care Instructions
