History
- The 20th-century technologies helped in making metallic fabrics much easier and more affordable to produce.
- Lurex came into existence in 1946.
- The yarn is usually made from aluminium stripes which are sandwiched between plastic films.
- The outfits made from lurex were first designed by Jacques Griffe wherein the fabric was woven into metelasse.
